Career Technical Education- CTE

Career pathways help students connect their high school education with postsecondary career opportunities and obtaining a higher paying job when they graduate.

During high school, students should take a variety of CTE (Career Technical Education) classes to discover career areas and innate skills. Herriman High is fortunate to have a large variety of choices, as well as JATC opportunities.

DECA- Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) improve educational and career opportunities in marketing, management and entrepreneurship for students.

FBLA- Future Business Leaders of America is a nonprofit educational association for middle school, high school, and collegiate students who are interested in learning more about the free enterprise system. FBLA is a nationally recognized club in the United States of America.

FCLA- Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private schools.

SkillsUSA- a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education.

HOSA- an international career and technical student organization for future health professionals, endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of ACTE.

FFA- an extracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America.
